TRACK REVIEW: Johnny Foreigner – “200x”

Written for DIY

Whilst “Electricity vs the Dead”, the first taster of new album Johnny Foreigner vs Everything, was a reprise of the JoFo that made such a good first impression – rapid-fire-break-neck-speed-indie-rock – “200x” is another dose of what came next. Alexi and co’s “quieter” tracks tend to be no less cynical than the faster fare, but far more melancholy, with a propensity to reflect on age and responsibility, juxtaposed with a chopped and screwed GameBoy soundtrack. Sad/pretty, even the bit about throwing up in someone’s garden, because bassist/vocalist Kelly Southern makes everything sound lovely.
